Brisson Signs with Emporia State

Sophomore OF Blake Brisson

    Garden City Community College sophomore centerfielder Blake Brisson (Omaha, NE) has signed a national letter of intent to continue his college baseball career during the 2011-2012 season. Brisson has signed with perennial Division II powerhouse Emporia State University in Emporia, KS. “We are extremely excited for Blake to get this opportunity with such a quality program like Emporia,” noted Head Coach Chris Finnegan.

    As a freshman last year Brisson started thirty-five games in centerfield for the Busters. He stole fifteen bases while committing zero errors in over sixty-five chances. Brisson will be joining an Emporia State program that has experienced unprecedented success under current Head Coach Bob Fornelli. In Fornelli’s six years at the helm, the Hornets have advanced to the NCAA II Regional Tournament every year. This culminated with an appearance in the championship game in 2009.

    Garden City will open its 2011 season on February 9^th at home against Otero Junior College at 1:00pm.
